MMM 009: Are you a Have Doer or Do Haver?

Let’s face it. We don’t always have the resources (time, money, knowledge, confidence…) we need to do the things we want to in life. So we’re faced with a decision:

  1. Be a Have Doer and wait until we have it, and hope that day comes (it may never come)
  2. Be a Do Haver and do/act in the ways that a person who has the thing we want does, until we have it. Or in other words: Pretend it until you amend it or fake it till you make it!

For example, you want have more confidence public speaking so you can

  1. Wait until one day you suddenly feel more confident about it
  2. Find ways to act like you have the confidence you want (talk confidently to yourself, video yourself and watch it, talk confidently to small groups of people…), and in doing so gradually attain the confidence you desire while public speaking

This may seem like a subtle change but it’s a priceless mindset that often can make a huge impact in life
