Chiropractic has never had a scientific model that represents subluxation-centered chiropractic. A model that explained the subluxation for the true role it plays. With chiropractic having entered its second century, it is essential that a truly up-to-date, functional, scientific, neurological based model lead the forefront and transform healthcare.
There have been endless definitions of the subluxation. Many pioneers have attempted to develop techniques to diagnose, locate, and correct subluxations. Although much greatness has come, chiropractic has been left with mechanistic and/or linear protocols that have stood in the way of chiropractic’s true potential.
In 1994, the Holder Research Institute discovered (1) that only vertebrates have opiate receptor site brain reward, establishing the vertebral subluxation complex as the hallmark of insult of the vertebrate’s ability to express a state of well-being to its fullest potential.
“The Brain Reward Cascade” is a scientific model (2) that provides an understanding of the neurophysiological mechanisms of how the meso-limbic system expresses a state of well-being. A lack of state of well-being is referred to as Reward Deficiency Syndrome (RDS). The vertebral motor unit and the dorsal horn (3) are the common denominators. Due to its intimate relationship to the “The Brain Reward Cascade”, a subluxation-free spine becomes mandatory for the expression of one’s greatest potential. Out of the first state of well being/addiction population research study in chiropractic history comes the Integrator™.
The Integrator™ is the only chiropractic adjusting instrument that was developed out of randomized clinical trial, blinded and with placebo control. The study was designed by Robert Duncan, Ph. D., biostatistician, at the University of Miami School of Medicine, together with the Holder Research Institute and founded in part by a grant from the Florida Chiropractic Society. Dr. Holder is the first American to receive the Albert Schweitzer Prize in Medicine from the Albert Schweitzer-Gesellschaft, Austria. The 1992 Chiropractor of the Year by The Florida Chiropractic Association and Florida Chiropractic Society Researcher of the Year in 1995. Dr. Holder is Adjunct Professor, St. Martin’s College, Milwaukee; held appointment to the faculty at the University of Miami, Center for Addiction Studies and Education, and held appointment as post graduate faculty at numerous chiropractic colleges including National College, Life College, Life West and Parker College. He is the Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the Council on Chiropractic Practice.
He is the developer of Torque Release Technique ® , discoverer and developer of the Foundation Point System and Addiction Axis Line in Auriculotherapy, President/Co-Founder of the American College of Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders, which trains and board certifies professionals in the field of addiction worldwide and is Director/Founder of Exodus Treatment Center, a 350 bed addiction facility located in Miami, Florida, Director/Founder of Exodus Israel Addiction and Research Center, Jerusalem, Israel.
